The Great Voltini and Nurse Electra |
'The Great Voltini', proprietor of the world's funniest electrocution show, first came to the attention of the public when, in July 2002, he appeared on 'V Graham Norton'; shooting 500,000 volts up his arse and lighting a petrol soaked firetorch held in Grahams hand with sparks from his fingers
Since then, with the voluptuous Nurse Electra by his side, he has toured the UK nightclubs, shocked the Japanese at the Fuji Rock festival, survived a grueling theatre tour with the Circus of Horrors (86 shows in 79 days at 52 theatres), performed many times at Simon Drake's House of Magic, and played the part of Walford Bodie |

Captain Howdy’s Flying Circus |
| A SPECiAL ONE OFF “FLYING DEMON SUSPENSION” |
The name itself “Captain Howdy” is coming from the movie Strangeland, where Heavy-Metal singer extraordinaire Dee Snider plays a psychopath who kidnaps people via the internet to performs on them various body piercings and suspensions.
Captain Howdy's Flying Circus almost stole the show, and were certainly the talk of the town after performing at The Texas Chainsaw Blood Ball - with a live crucifixion and London's first public hanging for 55 years, the intensity was too much for some, but undaunted we have asked them to return to celebrate our first birthday.
Body suspension is originally a Native American ritual designed to give spiritual guidance: those who dare to go through the ordeal of having their flesh pierced and who sustain the fear and pain of the suspension reach a higher stage of consciousness and understanding.
After fasting for three days, practioners attempting this Rite de Passage are suspended from their chest (o kee pa) using eagle claws and stay suspended until the skin rips. As they are being suspended, they are meant to receive “visions” from the gods. Following this ritual, the child is considered to have become a tribesman. |
Captain Howdy’s career as a freak and body-performer started over half a decade ago when he was asked (he was then working in a renowned tattoo parlour in Miami, Fl, USA) if he could replace a performer who chickened out at the idea of performing a freak show involving painful suspensions for a tattoo convention. Following the age-old tradition, Captain Howdy fasted for three days and participated in various performances during the event. He performed both the o-kee-pa but staged also his first crucifixion, -being pierced with nails through the palm of his hands and fixed to a wooden cross. Following this life-changing experience, and after a lot of research in traditional methods and modern primitivism, Captain Howdy discovered the movie “strangeland” which would change his life forever. Learning from both traditional practioners and modern pioneers in the field, Captain Howdy transformed and improved methods to attain higher levels of professionalism, safety,… and pain. |
Now, Captain Howdy has put together a team of some of the most talented people working in the body modification industry and who he met along the way, creating “Captain Howdy’s Flying Circus” to provide the wildest, craziest, most insane show you’ll see in a long time! The perfect compliment, we are sure you will agree, to The Texas Chainsaw Travelling Horror Picture Show. |
